Life makes us crazy. Stitching keeps us sane.
We're Mrs. Meshugga, and yes, we're a little crazy—but in the best possible way.
Our name says it all. "Meshugga" means crazy in Yiddish, and honestly? It's the perfect word for navigating modern life. Between the chaos, the noise, and the never-ending to-do lists, we all need something that grounds us. For us (and hopefully for you), that something is needlepoint.
We're not your grandmother's needlepoint store—though we'd absolutely love to stitch alongside her. We're a modern needlepoint shop and creative community right here in Maplewood, New Jersey, where tradition meets irreverence and every stitch is an act of joyful rebellion against the chaos.
Our Maplewood Home
We're proud to be part of the Maplewood community—a town that values creativity, connection, and local businesses that give a damn. Our shop is a gathering place, a creative sanctuary, and a reminder that sometimes the best way to handle life's craziness is to sit down, thread a needle, and stitch your way through it.

Meet Lisa: The Meshugga Behind Mrs. Meshugga
Lisa Buber has been crafting for as long as she can remember, and she's always been an entrepreneur at heart. She originally opened Mrs. Meshugga years ago, but needlepoint? That was her creative constant—the thing she kept coming back to.
So she made the leap and transformed Mrs. Meshugga into a needlepoint shop. It wasn't just a business pivot—it was a chance to share her love of needlepoint with the community and bring the fun, modern, colorful designs she was obsessed with to Maplewood.
A New Jersey native, Lisa wanted to create a space where needlepoint felt fresh, bold, and welcoming—whether you're a curious beginner or a lifelong stitcher. She curates playful canvases and vibrant patterns that reflect a modern, carefree sensibility, and she loves seeing them become part of her customers' lives.
When she's not at the shop, you'll find Lisa with her husband, three kids, and two dogs—probably hiking through the woods or working on her next creative project.
Because that's the thing about being a little meshugga: life gets messy, creativity keeps you sane, and needlepoint is better when we do it together. |
